I’d like to thank our partners Anthony Veder, SLNG and Pavilion Gas for their support in this Dutch Singaporean co production. “We are extremely proud to have successfully completed the largest LNG bunkering in the World”, said Niels den Nijs, CEO Titan LNG, “It was a Herculean task, supplying this 8 legged extremely potent crane vessel, the Sleipnir. The involvement of a second Dutch company, Anthony Veder, makes this maiden voyage extra special”. We are very pleased to work together with Dutch Company Titan LNG, since it provided us with good solutions for bunkering, in Singapore as well as in Spain. This specific project of bunkering LNG is proof of this ambition. It shows that we act sustainable because we want to. Sleipnirs’ design clearly showcases Heerema’s dedication to sustainability beyond simply compliance. Sustainability is an integral part of HMC’s identity, embedded in our daily work practices. Our LED lights and shore power electricity are only a few examples of Heerema’s ambition in this area. No other vessel has such numerous features. Koos-Jan van Brouwershaven, CEO Heerema: “Not only is Sleipnir the world’s largest and strongest vessel, it is also first of its kind as far as sustainability goes. Shortly after adding Coral Fraseri to our fleet we have already mobilized her in the small scale LNG market, which underlines our strong position and commitment in supplying the maritime industry worldwide sustainable solutions for LNG as marine fuel.” Jan Valkier, CEO of Anthony Veder says: “We are excited by serving Heerema’s Sleipnir with this LNG bunkering operation, in cooperation with Titan LNG, and look forward to many more. Titan LNG has chartered Coral Fraseri which is commercially managed by Anthony Veder, also Dutch, thus resulting in a unique Dutch cooperation. Heerema has selected Dutch company Titan LNG to help in this undertaking. Since LNG is not yet obtainable worldwide this is the first LNG bunkering in this area of the world. The last two days bunkering of LNG took place 12 miles off the coast of Indonesia by Coral Fraseri which is commercially managed by Anthony Veder. Sleipnir is the world’s first crane vessel with dual-fuel engines running on MGO and LNG, dramatically reducing harmful emissions. Sleipnir, the world’s largest and strongest semi-submersible crane vessel (SSCV) was built in Singapore and will set course for Spain. This week, Heerema’s newest vessel Sleipnir will begin her maiden voyage.

While both moissanite and diamond are rated excellent in toughness, moissanite has a different atomic and chemical structure than diamond. Determined by a substance’s atomic and chemical structure, toughness can vary directionally within a jewel or gemstone. The ability of a jewel to remain intact, withstand force (pressure) and resist breaking or chipping is known as toughness. Moissanite’s ability to resist abrasion out ranks many popular colored gemstones and is second only to diamond. Therefore, if you were to compare hardness between gemstones, a jewel can only be scratched or abraded by a material that has the same hardness or a higher Mohs hardness.Īlthough diamond is the hardest substance known to mankind, ranked as 10 on Mohs, moissanite is the second hardest jewel known to man, at 9.25. Hardness refers to the jewel’s resistance to being scratched or abraded and is commonly expressed as a number ranking (1 being the softest and 10 being the hardest) on Mohs relative hardness scale. Durability is commonly described to consist of both hardness and toughness however, a third component of durability is stability. Moissanite’s brilliance outshines every jewel, yet its exceptional durability should not be overlooked. With more brilliance and fire than that of diamond or any popular jewel, moissanite is truly impressive. This means that moissanite emits more fire, or flashes of rainbow colored light than diamond. What’s more, moissanite’s fire of 0.104 is more than twice that of diamond (0.044). In other words, moissanite’s brilliance outrivals diamonds’s. Simplified, the higher the refractive index, the more brilliance the jewel emits. There is a correlation between a jewel’s refractive index and its brilliance. Moissanite is known for its high refractive index of 2.65, greater even than the refractive index of diamond at 2.42. Moissanite’s characteristic sparkle is more than just a show of beauty-it’s also a testament to the superior science behind the jewel. Moissanite is also harder than ruby, sapphire and other popular gemstones and second in hardness only to diamond. The jewel is acclaimed for its exceptional brilliance and dispersion (fire) – properties that in moissanite exceed most popular gemstones and are greater than diamond’s. Now, through the combination of advanced technology and proprietary processes, moissanite is carefully created by Charles & Colvard. He soon realized the brilliance and fire that shimmered from this new mineral which lead George Kunz, a respected professional with expertise in gemology from Tiffany & Co., to name the new jewel "moissanite" in honor of Dr. He studied the fragmented particles taken from an Arizona meteor crater believed to have been carried to Earth in a meteorite 50,000 years ago in trace amounts. In addition to superior fire and brilliance, Moissanite has 18% greater luster than a diamond and 50% greater luster than CZ.Moissanite-chemically known as silicon carbide-was discovered more than 100 years ago in 1893 by a Nobel-Prize winning scientist named Henri Moissan. Luster is the amount of light that is reflected back to the observer from the surface of the gemstone. Moissanite's fire, the flashes of colored light, is even more impressive, being more than twice that of a diamond. Moissanite's superior refractive index makes Moissanite the most brilliant fine gemstone on earth. The higher the refractive index of a gemstone, the more brilliance the jewel emits. Brilliance is the flashes of white light exiting the top and sides of a gemstone. Moissanite is known for its high refractive index of 2.65, which is notably higher than diamond, sapphire, CZ and other gemstones known to be very brilliant. This is not merely a sales line, but a scientific and quantifiable fact. Moissanite's characteristic sparkle is more than just a show of beauty - it's a testament to the superior science behind the jewel, boasting more fire, brilliance, and luster than any gemstone on earth.
Given that the baby boomer generation is getting older and currently transitioning from the labour force to retirement, their needs are different today. The Canadian population is made up of various generations of different sizes, and each influences society according to their world view, characteristics, values and stage in their life cycle. Millennials also accounted for more than one-third (35.1%) of the downtown population of large urban centres in Canada in 2021, while baby boomers accounted for one-fifth (20.9%) of it.Millennials outnumber baby boomers in Alberta (23.3% versus 21.4%), Yukon (25.0% versus 24.2%), the Northwest Territories (25.2% versus 19.2%), and Nunavut (24.1% versus 10.6%).Millennials are the generation that accounts for the largest share of the working-age population (33.2%), or those aged 15 to 64.This increase is due to immigration, despite the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on recent immigration. Millennials, who are those born between 19 and were between 25 and 40 years old in 2021, are the fastest-growing generation. They represent 24.9% of the Canadian population, compared with 41.7% in 1966, when they were under the age of 20. For the first time since the end of the baby boom, baby boomers-who were born between 19 and were between the ages of 56 and 75 in 2021-make up less than a quarter of the Canadian population. These changes will have significant consequences, particularly on the labour market, services to seniors, and the consumption of goods and services. The Canadian population is changing due to baby boomers getting older and immigration boosting numbers in the younger generations. You can call this an all-in-one emulator because of its capability to emulate all kinds of gaming systems such as Famicom, NES, Dendy, etc. This is yet another open-source NES emulator for PC out there. You can limit the FPS and there is offline documentation built-in with the installer. All the basic options such as cheat codes and audio-video customization work perfectly. The installer is quite small and just a few hundred kilobytes in size. You can run the US, European, and well as the licensed Japanese games in this. The UI is translated into 20 different languages which is a massive plus. The software supports multiple languages and it is reported to play almost all the 8-bit NES games. However, the overall UI is pretty easy to use and quite intuitive. The emulator is a bit old-school in terms of the design language. Along with the Windows PC, you can run this on Android. “Every time you stepped into the wilderness, it was a gamble.” “In Ultima Online I was wandering the woods of Yew, hunting people down or pickpocketing them, potentially killing them and looting their house – which usually ended with me feeling bad and giving things back,” he says. Since creating his first character, HunterArrowstorm, he puts his game time at tens of thousands of hours.īullied for being overweight – he was 300 pounds in high school – Ultima provided a kinder world than real life. Reddit user Wolfgeist played the game – on and off and on unofficial servers – from its release up until three years ago. Ultima Online has been running since 1997. In many ways, this comparison is an indictment of real-life (Mckenzie Wark argues as such in her seminal book Gamer Theory.) But progression in these games can be a source of confidence to those who cannot find it in the real world. “If you’re in a world that feels chaotic, where you’ve lost your sense of place, where you’re never quite sure what the government is going to tell you the following day, sometimes it’s nice to go to a place where there is a bit more structure, where, if you want to get to level 55, you need 100 more experience points.” “There comes a point where you're not playing a character anymore – your avatar on the screen is a projection of yourself,” says Mark Ogilvie, design director of Jagex, the developer of RuneScape. Most people only stay in a job for four and a half years these games have been a constant in some player’s lives for more than a decade. Where modern life – particularly at present – can be unjust, chaotic and precarious, online worlds are reassuringly stable. The Realm is one of the oldest MMOs still online, running since 1996, but according to Atlas Obscura, no one knows who hosts its servers. World of Warcraft, the most famous MMORPG, is still running 17 years after release. The first commercial MMORPG was Island Of Kesami, released in 1985 – it featured a chat room, servers of up to 100 players and graphics that resembled the interface one might launch nukes from in the eighties. Though video games are still in their adolescence, some games have been going decades, and some players have been there from the start. “ was like discovering a cozy little world that had been flourishing without me, hidden within the walls of my house an entire cast of characters welcomed me to the troupe with great merriment as soon as I found the secret door.” “The idea of a community accessible only via my computer screen sounded cold to me at first,” Rheingold wrote. But you can pull it off with 10 minutes and a big mixing bowl. What came out of the oven was a veritable dream, a cross between a croissant and rugelach with the kind of pillowy flaky layers pastry chefs work tirelessly to achieve through focused applications of regimented amounts of butter to floury doughs. Instead, I will tell you this so you can make your way through this recipe with serenity. Oh, if I could go back in time and just tell myself to shut it, awesomeness is nigh I would. I hope you know where this is going: These are some of the best things I have ever made. I really sound like fun, don’t I? Hey, who wants me to review their cookbook?! When it was time to roll out the cookies, I was positive that they’d open up and jelly would burn up all over the pan and really felt more detail was warranted on how to avoid this. Or, perhaps, there isn’t supposed to be any sugar but don’t you think they should mention that in the headnote so people don’t become alarmed? I spent 15 minutes debating whether I should follow the recipe or add sugar, getting increasingly grumpy with each (uh, single-step) pace of the kitchen floor before deciding to the take the recipe at its obviously incorrect word. Then, I was mixing the dough and I checked and rechecked and what? Where was the sugar? What kind of cookie doesn’t have sugar in it? It would be terrible. First, it told me I’d have more than enough cheese when I barely had enough which sent me into a fit of “Should you pack the measuring cup? Should it fall loosely in there? This recipe is from 1973, at no time over the last 37 years could they have inserted that important detail?” and other distractions. Plus, I love a recipe that calls for something I’m trying to use up, in this case, a brick of farmer cheese. So last Thursday, I decided to make some delightful looking cookies from The Gourmet Cookie Book as a hostess gift for our Christmas Eve dinner. A recipe I feel would benefit from an overhaul is a needling reminder that even with a team of very able people involved, perfection is unattainable and one day someone will be standing in a kitchen wondering how nobody saw that inevitable typo in my book and lordy, is it too early for a drink? It leads to a lot of grumpiness in the kitchen. Why wasn’t this tested better? Would it have killed them to add this highly relevant detail? How many editorial hands did this recipe pass through and not a single one of them could have corrected this bogus weight? It’s not pretty and, tellingly, the tendency has only become exacerbated since I began writing my own cookbook. Let me try again, from the place where I own up to something: I often get really cranky with recipes when I cook. Wow, that was totally not what this post was supposed to be about. Just kidding! I emphatically do not snore, not even when I have had wine with dinner and a lingering head cold and it would have been completely understandable. Because if I don’t mention this today I believe my husband will pop out of lurkdom and tsk-tsk me publicly for it, let me own up to one thing: I snore. |
